Speaker System Recommendation.?

Ok so I want to buy some speakers for my current room at uni and house next year. I have quite a varied music taste from blues and jazz, drum and bass, old rock, pop, classical etc so I want the sound quality to be good, and for it not to do that crackling mechanical noise when it is turned up too high.
I do have one set of speakers for my ipod but they aren’t good enough at all. And the sound quality on my macbook is rubbish!
So I have been doing some research and it seems I need to get a couple of speakers with a woofer…. Not too sure what that means though!
I want it to be so that the bass bit can sit on the floor and I can control the volume from my desk, and it will connect to my ipod and mac.
Obviously as i am a student I can’t spend vast amounts on this, I would say £70 is my limit.
I also would prefer it to be simple as I don’t need thousands of knobs and twiddly bits to change bits.

You are not going to get what you want for £70.

There are two main reasons you get “…that crackling mechanical noise when it is turned up too high”:
1) You are buying cheap speakers.
2) The sound quality from an iPod or a Macbook will always be appallingly bad, no matter what speakers you use.

If you genuinely want good sound quality, you need need a decent amplifier and a decent pair of speakers (and about £300).

I recently got a bass guitar as a gift and i’ve never played one Before?

I was just needing some advice on proper finger positioning and easy songs to play for beginners…also Amp Control and if you could please explain all of the basics i will need to know before playing.
